Sculpture name: An Incanvenient truth

Designer: Stantec Architecture Ltd. and Manshield Construction Inc.

Presenting sponsor: Great-West Life Assurance Company

Concept: Our structure of a globe resting on a plinth has been designed to depict the proliferation of hunger in our world. Black cans dotted on the globe represent statistics about world hunger. While we observe a greater density of black cans in the continents of Africa, Asia and South America, these also appear in North America and Europe. This indicates to us that hunger is still a global issue.

Sculpture name: We CAN give hunger a rest!

Designer: Professional Interior Designers Institute of Manitoba

Presenting sponsor: Scotiabank

Concept: We have designed a space that is intended to give one the feeling of comfort – a space where people retreat to – to relax and put their feet up after a long day. Everyone has something that they can take solace in and for our design it's the big comfy chair in a familiar room! By building this scene with cans of food we hope that people can be reassured that there are others out there ready to help take a load off those who need the burden lifted the most.

Sculpture name: Let the Food Flow

Designer: Acres Manitoba Ltd.

Presenting sponsor: Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company

Concept : As specialists in the design and construction management of Hydro Electric projects, our design team was inspired to create a concept demonstrating our unique understanding of water resources. As the water flows from above to below the falls, we envision the free flow of food to the needy and a blurring of the division between the rich and the poor. Food and clean water should be readily available to every person, regardless of social position. Join us in our mission to bring food and water to the people who need it – let's all Let the Food Flow.

Sculpture name: Winds CAN bring change

Designer: Teshmont Consultants Inc.

Presenting sponsor: Manitoba Hydro

Concept : Windmills have been used for many different purposes throughout history. In some earlier societies windmills were used to provide food for the community. Times have changed and today's windmills are used for such things as power generation, but the purpose CAN and should remain the same, providing for the needs of our communities.

Sculpture name: Ladder of Hope

Designer: Habitat for Humanity and Friesen Tokar Architects

Presenting sponsor: Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC)

Concept: The rainbow is a reminder of a covenant and a promise. For Habitat for Humanity, this promise manifests itself as a home, but is really so much more. As part of the ecosystem, a home should be our promise to be good stewards of our planet. As part of a neighbourhood, a home is our commitment to build community. As a construction process, a home is the foundation for friendships. For the family of new homeowners, a home becomes a ladder of hope for the future.

Sculpture name: Time to Make a Change

Designer: SMS Engineering Ltd.

Presenting sponsor: Manitoba Blue Cross

Concept: The original merchants of Polo Park had a keen desire to beautify the shopping centre with artistic creations. This resulted in the commission of seven works of art by local artists. The most prominent of these works was a giant sundial designed by Winnipeg artist Jim Willer that was situated at the south entrance of the shopping centre. We have recreated the sundial here to remind everyone who sees it that it is Time to Make a Change.
