Run a food drive in your community or workplace
Organize a successful food drive in your organization, faith community or school to help Harvest “Share your Thanksgiving” with others in the community.
- Set a goal for your campaign, i.e. how many pounds of food you want to collect, how much money would you like to raise.
- Set a timeline for your campaign and begin to advertise the upcoming activity, with it ending on October 10.
- Consider a team-building kick off to your campaign such as a potluck or BBQ - make it fun!
- Announce that you are collecting food, money, or both.
- Consider some inter office challenges; provide incentives for people to participate.
- Take the team on a tour to Winnipeg Harvest or spend an afternoon volunteering together in our warehouse to create team spirit and provide a deeper awareness about hunger in our community. You'll see first hand why your involvement matters.
- Celebrate your achievement at the end of your campaign!
Winnipeg Harvest can provide the following:
- Food collection bins
- Event posters
- Winnipeg Harvest brochures for you to distribute or post in your area
