World-record food drive
Breaking the record
Last October, Winnipeggers were invited to participate in the World Record Food Drive by collecting canned food and bringing it to Winnipeg Safeway stores or to the Canad Inns Stadium from October 20 – 21.
The challenge was set and the results were tremendous – the city came together to collect over 176 tons of food earning us the Guinness World Record for the most food collected in a 24-hour period.
Canned food proceeds from Investors Group Canstruction Winnipeg went to Winnipeg Harvest and net cash proceeds were shared between Winnipeg Harvest and Habitat for Humanity. Both Winnipeg Harvest and Habitat for Humanity provided significant volunteer support during the exhibition time and transported the canned food for participating design/build teams.
KEEPING THE SPIRIT ALIVE
Help us keep the spirit of giving alive this year by visiting the Investors Group Canstruction Winnipeg exhibition at Polo Park and voting for the Polo Park Fan Favourite award. Or, fill up the Winnipeg Harvest donation bag inserted in your Winnipeg Free Press with non-perishable food items and drop it off at any Safeway location during the Share your Thanksgiving initiative in October.
